Our Inspiration: Robots!

The phrase ‘You little tinker!’ has two meanings – someone who is a little bit naughty or someone who likes ‘tinkering around’. I know loads of kids who love both kinds of tinkering, but for now let’s look at the ‘tinkering around’ kind.

It was a good friend whose little boy’s tinker table inspired our Robot Colour In T. She created this fabulous area, full of child friendly nuts, bolts, tools and old electrical items, to allow him to explore electronics safely. Her little boy would spend hours taking apart old telephones, cameras and plugs, with the aim of creating something new… generally a robot or space-alien-inspired-creature!

Our love for robot toys and gifts has also been inspired by The Science Museum’s latest blockbuster exhibition, Robots, which has the most significant collection of humanoid robots ever displayed in one place. There is so much to see and do at the Exhibition, and visitors can even come face-to-face with Eric, a modern recreation of the UK’s first robot. We are so lucky to have this collection in the UK, making it a must-see for any tinkering addict!
